Seriously, unless you want to start watching Despicable Me on a loop once again, don't show your kids this trailer. Despicable Me was one of the surprise hits of 2010. Sure, animated kids movies tend to always do well, but those also tend to come from established studios like Disney, Pixar or DreamWorks. Despicable Me was the first film from Illumination Entertainment, a company founded by ex-20th Century Fox Animation president Chris Meledandri, and it was a big enough hit ($540 million across the globe) that the fledgling studio was able to forge an exclusive financing and distribution deal with Universal.
